JACKSON – Gov. Phil Bryant declared a State of Emergency for several Mississippi counties after severe storms moved through the state today.
“Deborah and I extend our thoughts and prayers to all of those who were affected by the storms today,” Gov. Bryant said. “As local and state officials work together to assess the damages, this State of Emergency will help expedite the support needed.”
At least eight Mississippi counties have reported damages and some injures including: Forrest, Greene, Hinds, Jones, Lawrence, Pearl River Stone and Wilkinson counties. The State of Emergency also covers all counties affected by this severe weather event.
The State of Emergency is an administrative tool, which allows the state to offer support to the areas impacted by the severe weather.
