GOV. BRYANT REQUESTS ASSISTANCE FOR DESOTO COUNTY

PEARL Gov. Phil Bryant has requested the Small Business Administration send damage assessment teams to Desoto County to evaluate the possibility of assistance for residents and businesses that were affected by flooding on Thursday.

“I have requested that SBA consider Desoto County residents and businesses for assistance with cleaning up and rebuilding after the serious flooding,” Gov. Bryant said. “We hope our request is granted, and that it will help these families and business owners recover as quickly as possible.”

If granted, the SBA assistance would be in the form of low interest loans.

As of Friday afternoon, local officials and MEMA completed their damage assessments in Desoto County. The reports are as follows:

Major Damage: Four homes, eight apartments and 10 businesses.

Minor Damage: 55 homes, 58 apartments and 67 businesses.

Seven roads had major damage, three bridges and one public building had minor damage.
