JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality is working with Harrison County to help residents deal with wastes and debris from clean up of damage caused by Hurricane Isaac. In conjunction with the county, MDEQ will offer a collection site for Household Hazardous Wastes (HHW) from the storm beginning Monday.
Household Hazardous Wastes include household chemicals and similar products such as gasoline, antifreeze, paints, stains, thinners, gas, kerosene, propane, oils, cleaning supplies such as bleach, disinfectants, furniture polish, pool chemicals, thermostats, light ballasts, ant/roach killers, wasp/hornet killers, and lawn fertilizers and other similar hazardous materials from individual residences.

15321 County Farm Road, Gulfport, 39503
The gravel parking lot adjacent to the Harrison County Fairgrounds across from the soccer fields.
The site is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday – Saturday. Beginning Monday, September 10 until Friday, September 21, 2012.
MDEQ will work with local officials to determine if additional collection services for HHW will be needed in high impact areas of the county.
