Electric power associations, serving in south Mississippi, are reporting approximately 41,400 meters without electric service at 7:00 a.m. Singing River Electric, serving in the hardest hit area, has 32,700 outages and Coast Electric is reporting 8,700 outages. More than 150 workers from Mississippi’s electric cooperatives have been sent to the area to assist local crews in restoring power in a safe and timely manner. Our emergency coordinator is working closely with the associations in these areas and providing additional assistance with crews and equipment as requested. In addition to our Mississippi workforce, we can place additional manpower and equipment in the area from our neighboring states.
Singing River Electric, headquartered in Lucedale, serves over 70,500 members in southeast Mississippi. They maintain nearly 7,000 miles of line in Jackson, George, Greene, Harrison, Perry, Stone and Wayne counties in Mississippi.
Coast Electric, headquartered in Kiln, serves more than 81,000 members in Harrison, Hancock and Pearl River counties and maintain 6,850 miles of line.
