MEMA
courses offered during the year are provided at no cost to
the attendees. MEMA will pay for the lodging, meals and personal
vehicle mileage for those traveling more that 50 miles to
the course and who are required to stay in a hotel to attend
the course. Those who live within in the 50-mile limit and
travel by personal vehicle are eligible only for mileage reimbursement.
POV Mileage will be paid at the current Federal/State rate
determined by the Misissippi Department of Finance and Adminsitration.
Meals or fuel will be not be reimbursed to those living within
the 50-mile limit. Only one person per jurisdiction is eligible
to receive mileage costs. Cost of fuel for government vehicles
outside the 50-mile limit is eligible for reimbursement as
long as it is bought on a private credit card.
Student
will be notified by e-mail or mail of acceptance to a class.
Notification will be sent at least two weeks prior to a class.
The deadline for applying to a course is two weeks prior to
the start date.
Any
student who is unable to attend a course, for which they have
enrolled and have been accepted, must notify the Training
Department five working days before the course. Failure to
notify MEMA of a cancellation will result in the student not
being selected to attend the next MEMA course in which they
enroll. Exceptions will be made for emergencies. When a student
cancels from a MEMA course the student is also responsible
for canceling their hotel reservations.
In
the event that the number of applicants for a scheduled course
is insufficient to warrant holding the course, or there is
an additional problem requiring cancellation, a notice of
cancellation and/or rescheduling will be sent to all applicants.
MEMA will make course cancellation decisions at least two
weeks prior to the course start date unless there is an emergency
requiring short notice cancellations. Students who are enrolled
in a cancelled course will be notified by email, fax, letter
or phone call.
Students
are required to attend all sessions of each course, seminar
or workshop. Please notify the course manager if you expect
to miss any class sessions. If a student is unable to attend
a course for which he/she has been accepted, he/she must cancel
prior to the course start date. All hotel reservation cancellations
are the responsibility of the student.
