PEARL – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is asking residents in north Mississippi to be aware of the possibility of freezing rain/sleet tonight. The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for adjoining counties along the Arkansas and Tennessee state lines calling for freezing rain/sleet of less than .20 inches and less than one inch of snow.
Forecasters show the freezing line to remain just outside Mississippi, but MEMA is asking residents to be weather aware through Monday morning. Anyone planning to travel into eastern Arkansas or Tennessee should use extreme caution as driving conditions could become very dangerous.
MEMA and county emergency managers will monitor the situation closely and provide updates as necessary.
The public is encouraged to follow updates from MEMA on Twitter, Facebook and at www.msema.org. You can also download MEMA’s free mobile phone app for Android or iPhone devices.
