April 13 Severe Weather Update #1



PEARL, Miss. (MEMA) – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is working with counties to assess damage from the severe weather on April 13, 2022. There are reports of
homes damaged, trees down, and power outages due to yesterday’s storms. Currently, three injuries (Tippah) have been reported to MEMA.

Initial damage assessments are underway and 12 counties are reporting damage at this time. We anticipate that number to change as we are in the early stages of the damage assessment process. The counties reporting damage are:

  • Bolivar
  • Desoto
  • Humphreys
  • Lauderdale
  • Leflore
  • Noxubee
  • Rankin
  • Scott
  • Smith
  • Sunflower
  • Tippah
  • Warren

MEMA encourages residents that sustained damage to their homes to report it to their counties
using MEMA’s self-report tool.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency Call Center is open for citizens needing
resources following the severe weather. The Call Center will be open for business starting today
April 14, 2022. If assistance is needed call 1-800-445-6362.

Thursday, April 14: Open – 5:30 p.m.
Friday, April 15: 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Saturday, April 16: 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
