PEARL – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and other state agencies continue to assess damages from severe weather that moved through the state on Monday, bringing damaging winds and large hail.

Seven state agencies, including MEMA, have reported damage:

  • MEMA: Damage to 34 fleet vehicles, satellite radio communication systems, additional response equipment and the State Emergency Operations Center.
  • Miss. Highway Patrol: Damage to more than 100 fleet vehicles.
  • Miss. State Hospital: Damage to buildings and vehicles.
  • Miss. Department of Environmental Quality: Damage to vehicles.
  • Miss. State Fire Academy: Damage to vehicles.
  • Miss. Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy: Damage to buildings and vehicles.
  • Miss. Department of Corrections: Damage to fleet vehicles.

Eighteen counties have reported damages or impacts related to severe weather to MEMA.

  • Amite: Reports of large hail.
  • Calhoun: Trees and power lines down.
  • Chickasaw: Three homes destroyed and 19 with minor damage.
  • Clay: Trees down throughout the county.
  • Grenada: At least one home damaged. Trees and power lines down.
  • Hinds: Homes and public buildings damaged. Large hail reported.
  • Itawamba: One home with major damage and three with minor damage.
  • Lawrence: Reports of large hail.
  • Lee: Trees down throughout the county.
  • Lowndes: Trees and power lines down.
  • Monroe: Trees down throughout the county.
  • Neshoba: Three homes with minor damage.
  • Rankin: More than 300 homes damaged. Large hail reported.
  • Tallahatchie: A few homes damaged.
  • Tishomingo: Trees down.
  • Union: Twenty homes with minor damage and two businesses with minor damage.
  • Warren: One home destroyed and 10 with minor damage. One business with minor damage.
  • Wilkinson: Trees down and large hail.
