FEMA Individual Assistance:

  • Residents in Amite, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Pearl River, Pike, Walthall and Wilkinson Counties are eligible to apply for FEMA Individual Assistance.
  • Apply online by visiting www.disasterassistance.gov or calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). For the hearing and speech impaired, call 1-800-462-7585 to apply for individual assistance.

Disaster Unemployment Assistance:

  • Individuals who live or work in Amite, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Pearl River, Pike, Walthall and Wilkinson Counties and could not work because of major destruction caused by Hurricane Ida are entitled to apply
  • Apply online at www.mdes.ms.gov or call toll-free at 601-493-9428 from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday through Friday

Disaster Legal Services:

The Mississippi Bar Young Lawyers Division, in partnership with the American Bar Association Young Lawyers
Division and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, is providing free disaster legal
assistance to individuals that were affected in the following counties: Amite, Hancock, Harrison,
Jackson, Pearl River, Pike, Walthall, and Wilkinson.

  • Low-income survivors facing legal issues may call 1-877-691-6185 between 9:00am and 4:00 p.m.
    on Monday through Friday. Survivors who qualify for legal assistance will be matched with
    volunteer attorneys. Examples of legal assistance available include the following:
    • Assistance securing FEMA and other government benefits available to disaster victims;
    • Assistance with life, medical and property insurance claims;
    • Help with home repair contracts and contractors;
    • Replacement of wills and other important legal documents lost or destroyed in the disaster;
    • Consumer protections such as price-gouging and avoiding contractor scams in the
    rebuilding process;
    • Counseling on mortgage-foreclosure problems; and
    • Counseling on landlord-tenant problems

Small Business Administration Home Disaster Loans:

  • Homeowners and renters in Amite, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Pearl River, Pike, Walthall and Wilkinson Counties are eligible to apply for low-interest home disaster loans from the SBA.
  • Apply online by visiting disasterloanassistance.sba.gov or calling 800-659-2955. For the hearing and speech impaired, call 800-887-8339.
  • Deadline to apply = December 21, 2021
  • Loan amount limits = up to $200,000 for repair/replacement of real estate and up to $40,000 for personal property

Small Business Administration Physical Disaster Loans for Businesses:

  • Businesses and private nonprofits in Amite, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Pearl River, Pike, Walthall and Wilkinson Counties are eligible to apply for low-interest physical disaster loans from the SBA.
  • Apply online by visiting disasterloanassistance.sba.gov or calling 800-659-2955. For the hearing and speech impaired, call 800-887-8339.
  • Deadline to apply = December 21, 2021
  • Loan amount limits = up to $2 million for businesses and private nonprofits

  • Businesses and private nonprofits in Adams, Amite, Forrest, Franklin, George, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Lamar, Lawrence, Lincoln, Marion, Pearl River, Pike, Stone, Walthall and Wilkinson Counties are eligible to apply for low-interest economic injury disaster loans from the SBA.
